Evergreen trees in the fog

About Cedar

A church among the trees

How a Saturday walk turned into a church, what we believe and who leads us.

Our story

It started with a walk

In 2013, Jonah and a few neighbours started walking the Timber Ridge trail on Saturday mornings with a thermos of coffee. They talked about God the whole way, mostly arguing. The walk turned into a Bible study at Jonah’s kitchen table, and in 2016 we started meeting on Sundays in the old ranger station at the end of the road.

We still walk the trail every Saturday at 8. Faith grows slowly here, the way cedars do, and nobody is in a rush.

What we believe

What we believe

01

God made it

From the forest floor to the night sky, creation points to a good God.

02

Jesus

In him we find forgiveness, healing and new life.

03

The Bible

We read it together, slowly, and let it shape how we live.

04

Each other

Faith grows in homes, on trails and around a fire.

05

The valley

We want this church to be shelter for the whole valley, not just the people inside.

Who leads us

Jonah has been our pastor since the beginning. He’s usually the first one at the trailhead on Saturday.
